Reference platform tackles motor control

The R8C/25-based brushless dc motor control reference platform allows quick adoption of the latest technology to appliances, power-tools, fans, pumps, and other products.

The design uses a 20-MHz 16-bit R8C/Tiny MCU and supports four BLDC motor control algorithms: 120 trapezoidal, Hall-sensor-based; 180 sinusoidal, Hall-sensor-based; 120, back-EMF-based using external comparators; and 120, back-EMF based using the MCU’s A/D converters. The full circuit can be implemented on a two-layer PCB board. ($499—available 2nd qtr.)
