Regulator boosts efficiency to 90%

The first regulator in the EZBoost family, -he AOZ1905 is suitable for high-efficiency dc/dc boost applications such as providing bias voltages in LCD panels and power for handhelds, notebooks, monitors, and TVs.

The device is a current-mode, constant-frequency boost regulator with a switch-current limit of 2 A. It has a pin-selectable switching frequency of 600 kHz or 1.2 MHz. The regulator works from a 2.7 to 5.5-V input voltage range and generates an output voltage as high as 24 V. The built-in 0.15-Ω, 2.4-A MOSFET achieves greater than 90% efficiency. It features undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limit, thermal shutdown, and soft-start. (MSOP: $0.95 ea/1,000; DFN package: $0.99 ea/1,000 available now.)
