Renesas’ new Product Longevity Program (PLP) aims to improve customers’ use of products. PLP secures the long-term supply and full support of products that Renesas releases. The program will cover 5,000+ Renesas products that include microcontrollers, mixed-signal ICs, and power semiconductor devices that can be used for automotive, industrial, and other applications.
Senior Vice President of Renesas Electronics Corporation, Manabu Kawashima, stated, “At Renesas, we take pride in providing strong product support and communicating with our customers to help them manage their products with confidence. The PLP extends this support into a broader program that will help customers working in markets with long product life cycles to select Renesas products with comparable long product life cycles.”
Renesas’ PLP ensures the setup of three product supply period patterns. The first one is for products supplied to 10 years. The second is for products that will be supplied for at least 15 years. The last is for products supplied for a minimum of 20 years. For products already slotted for mass production this year, these periods will begin, and for products to be registered, these periods will start in the future. Renesas will provide all pertinent product status data along with the anticipated supply period that appears on the company’s website. This system permits Renesas to continue providing enforce the manageability of both preexisting products and new products and supplies.
Markets like the automotive and industrial industries require equipment with longevity and long-term supply of all necessary components. Renesas’ PLP shows the corporation’s pledge to create improved supply stability, while creating an environment where customers will readily select assured products with ease. The PLP will make sure that all product information is current on Renesas’ website, because it will be frequently updated.
