Renesas upgrades Quick-Connect Studio

Renesas adds real-time code customization and remote debugging to its cloud-based Quick-Connect Studio development platform for embedded system design.

Renesas Electronics Corp. has added new features and expanded coverage for its Quick-Connect Studio, a cloud-based embedded system design platform, first introduced in 2023. The platform allows users to graphically co-optimize hardware and software, validate prototypes and accelerate product development.  Users can build a full solution in the cloud and deploy to hardware in less than 10 minutes.

Quick-Connect Studio enables users to drag and drop device and design blocks in the cloud to build their applications. Users can generate, compile and build the base software automatically. This no-code trend simplifies building production-level software and there is little upfront learning or investment, Silicon Labs said, and cloud compute power delivers fast compilation, while the intuitive GUI reduces the learning curve.

With this expansion, Renesas has added real-time code customization and remote debugging to the Quick-Connect Studio. Automatically generated code can be customized in real-time in the browser application. With remote board farms, the code can be tested on target hardware dynamically to verify the operation before purchase or building the physical board and setting up the test system, speeding up the process of building proof of concepts and prototyping system solutions.

Quick-Connect Studio also added new devices from Renesas and its partners. The design platform now supports all Renesas RA microcontroller (MCU) boards and multiple Renesas wireless modules and sensors. Devices from partners, including ams Osram, TDK and Arducam, also have been added to expand the range of applications and designs. As of today, Quick-Connect Studio helps users build more than 350 systems using Renesas MCU and breakout boards.

“Once integrated into this platform, customers can seamlessly incorporate our MEMS 6-axis motion sensor with any Renesas RA MCU, generating production-ready code within minutes, without delving into intricate technical details,” said Sahil Choudhary, TDK’s director of marketing, in a statement.

Renesas also offers multi-region secure infrastructure deployments globally for fast response, reduced latency and uniform customer experience.

Renesas’ Quick-Connect Studio is a part of Renesas’ Quick-Connect platform. The platform’s standardized hardware offers interfaces such as PMOD, Arduino and Mikroe. Using standard connectors, engineers can mix and match MCUs, microprocessors, sensors and connectivity boards seamlessly.

Quick-Connect Studio is supported by a variety of Quick-Connect IoT development boards spanning MCUs, connectivity and sensors. Additional development kits, PMODs and peripheral boards will be added to the platform.
