Resettable PPTCs are industry’s smallest

Halve board-space requirements for protection of data and I/O ports in consumer devices

Presented as the industry’s smallest, the PolySwitch picoSMD035F resettable polymeric positive-temperature-coefficient devices (PPTCs) are offered in 0805 cases, requiring half the board space of previous PPTC solutions. The surface-mount PPTCs are designed to protect the latest generation of high-frequency data ports, I/O ports, and storage devices in consumer and computer electronics.

Rated at 6 V, the PPTCs provide a hold current of 0.35 A, a trip current of 0.75 A, and a maximum resistance of 1.4 Ω. The devices meet safety agency standards, are full-edge terminated with nickel-gold finish for superior solderability, and are RoHS compliant. Production quantities are now available in tape-and-reel packages. (From $0.30 ea/100,000—6 to 8 weeks ARO.)
