resistance tolerance to 0.01%.

New true fail open tantalum capacitor
The T496 hi-rel fused COTS MnO2 series tantalum surface mount capacitors from KEMET (www.kemet.com) protects from short circuit conditions. These devices target high reliability applications where a capacitor failing short cannot be tolerated. The internal fuse in the capacitor results in a fail open condition.

The KPS high voltage series from Kemet (www.kemet.com) has an X7R dielectric and is said to offer the highest capacitance/voltage combinations in the Industry. They use a proprietary lead-frame technology to vertically stack two MLC capacitors into a compact surface mount package. The devices are available in rated voltages of 500 VDC and 630 VDC and have low ESR and ESL properties and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

The KPS devices provide superior flex performance over traditional surface mount MLCCs with board flex capability up to 10 mm. They meet the demanding automotive AEC-Q200 qualification requirements. A 4.7UF 50V device costs around $1.29 in 1,000 quantity.
