RF chipset targets cordless phone apps

Requiring no software or mechanical tuning, an RF chipset—consisting of the ATR2820 SiGe transceiver IC and the ATR7040 power amplifier—targets cordless telephone applications in the 5.8-GHz frequency band. Housed in a 32-pin QFN package, the 5.8-GHz ATR2820 features a transmit output power of 5 dB, a sensitivity of –97 dBm, a data rate capability of 1,152 kbits/s, and a supply range of 2.9 to 3.6 V.

The ATR7040 offers an output power of 25 dBm at 5.8 GHz, an input power of typically 0 dBm, a frequency range of 5 to 6 GHz, and a typical gain of 30 dB. Available in a 16-pin QFN package, the ATR7040 also features a power consumption of less than 1 µA in power-down mode and a VCC voltage of 2.7 to 3.8 V. (From $5.70 ea/10,000 — available now.)
