Golden DRAGON® ARGUS® LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors provide uniform backlighting with perfect colour mixing for large display surfaces, thanks to their special lens and high luminous efficacy. Lozenge arrangements comprise four LEDs (two green, one blue and one red). Any number of these lozenges can be combined, either offset or in rows, to form infinitely scalable high-intensity backlighting systems.
Able to improve performance in applications from LCD backlighting to rear-projection light engines, the Golden Dragon Argus RGB LED has a novel integrated lens for more uniform light distribution and a 100-ns switching time for improved performance over previous devices.
The high switching speed enables sequential coloring, a process in which the three basic colors are pulsed at high frequency and in a particular sequence, not only maximizing light output but also providing for further enhancements in LCD and projector performance by reducing or eliminating the need for costly color filters.
