Robotic mirror brings natural light to your home

Lucy uses the movement of the sun to brighten up a room.

Lucy, an intelligent mirror built by Solencia, follows the movement of the sun to brighten up a room by reflecting its natural light all day long. Italian-designed and solar-powered, Lucy requires no charge and will wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night just like our star.

The mirror is simple to use, too; just select a room that’s in the line sight of the sun and the location where you wish to reflect the sunlight. Place Lucy in your desired setting and then rotate and point her where you wish to have the room illuminated. She will automatically track the sun’s movement, brightening up the room with 7,000 lumens of natural light throughout the day. An average room of 250ft requires 5,000 lumens to be fully fit, so Lucy over delivers.

The device reaps many benefits: She helps conserve energy, allowing you to turn off your light and rely on the power of the sun to bring in illumination. Lucy is ultra-portable and can be placed indoors and outdoors without any additional installation. Using an algorithm based on smartly positioned photo sensors, Lucy can redirect sunlight wherever you need it.

According to Solencia, one single use of Lucy can reduce a user’s carbon footprint by up to one ton (0.9 tonne) per year. Being solar-powered, her sphere requires no wires or electricity, which may attract her to environmentalists looking to go green.

Currently, Lucy is available for preorder for $150 U.S. dollars here.
