Rochester’s FASSt program significantly reduces lead times for many critical semiconductor devices

Rochester Electronics Expands Safety Stock Inventory With More Than 56 Million Finished Semiconductor Devices

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (July 25, 2012) – Rochester Electronics, the world’s largest authorized manufacturer of mature, often referred to as obsolete or discontinued, semiconductors, has added more than 56 million finished semiconductor devices to its Factory Authorized Safety Stock (FASSt) inventory. Rochester’s FASSt program significantly reduces the lead times for many critical semiconductor devices and helps eliminate potential semiconductor obsolescence issues.

The shipment of active and obsolete semiconductor devices includes numerous military devices from Analog Devices, flash memory products from Intel and Numonyx, one million Freescale semiconductors, more than eight million devices from Texas Instruments, and 30 million units from National Semiconductor. All devices are fully traceable to the original semiconductor manufacturer, and the semiconductors suitable for military applications have a manufacturer’s certificate of conformance.

This increase in Rochester’s Safety Stock is a valuable asset to customers that need an immediate solution when semiconductors are in limited supply. The Safety Stock program enables engineers to continue designing-in semiconductors without fear of end-of-life scenarios.

“In the month of May alone, Rochester added more than 56 million devices to the industry’s largest and most diverse semiconductor inventory,” said Paul Gerrish, President at Rochester Electronics. “Our Factory Authorized Safety Stock keeps production lines running smoothly, without any gaps in the production process that could result in a lack of critical devices. In addition, the FASSt program helps eliminate the possibility of substandard and counterfeit components from entering a customer’s supply chain, as all devices are traceable to the original manufacturer.”
