RS-232 analyzer is low cost
The AN232 handheld serial communication analyzer is for use on RS-232
lines. It allows eavesdropping and viewing of all data on a duplex serial
line. The analyzer can be set up to capture only certain messages using
RS-232 status lines, user-defined message header and end sequence, or word
count. All setup information is stored in nonvolatile memory. Up to 8,192
data words can be captured along with six status lines and serial channel
error information. Word length may be 7 or 8 bits with odd, even, or no
parity. Almost any bit rate may be programmed, from 110 bits/s to 1.0
Mbits/s. The analyzer has its own LCD display and is battery powered. It
comes with the battery, ac adapter, 25-pin line tap, and two 9 to 25-pin D
adapters. ($349–stock.) Dactronix, Rolla, MO Daniel Ciardullo
