RS-485 transceivers have wide operating range

The XR33032,XR33035, XR33038 half-duplex RS-485 transceivers operate at 250kbits/s, 1 Mbit/s, or 10 Mbits/s, respectively. They feature a widesupply range of 2.8 to 5.5 V and can tolerate significant voltagedrop along associated cables while maintaing compliantperformance.

The devices have ±18 V fault tolerance for direct shorts to DCor AC and ±70V transient protection. They meet ESD ratings of IEC61000-4-2 Level 4. The ICs typically draw only 300 μA when idlingwith the receivers active and receiver input impedance is 96 kΩ(1/8 unit load). $1.65 ea/1,000.
