R&S drives 6G RF test solutions

Rohde & Schwarz rolls out three dedicated W and D band RF test solutions to drive early 6G and sub-THz research.

Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its RF test and measurement portfolio with the launch of  three new products for W and D band applications. These include the R&S SFI100A wideband IF vector signal generator, R&S NRP170TWG thermal power sensor and R&S FE110ST/SR TX/RX frontends. Each product helps researchers to characterize devices and circuits beyond 5G and 6G mobile communications and address novel sensing and automotive radar applications.

The compact R&S SFI100A wideband IF vector signal generator is designed to meet bandwidth requirements for early 6G research, high-capacity wireless backhaul, fixed wireless access, sensing and automotive radar. Features include a very wide RF modulation bandwidth of up to 10 GHz that generate fully calibrated IF signals, ARB with up to 8 GSample memory, seamless connectivity with an R&S FExxxST up-conversion frontend to cover different frequency ranges and full control of the frontend and wideband single-ended or differential analog IQ outputs for signal generation in the baseband.

NRP170TWG(N) thermal power sensor

The R&S NRP170TWG(N) extends the company’s thermal RF power sensors portfolio, adding precision measurement of power levels in the frequency range from 110 GHz to 170 GHz. Other features include a dynamic range from –35 dBm to 20 dBm, high performance and “excellent” impedance matching. Two models – the R&S NRP170TWG (USB) and the R&S NRP170TWGN (USB and LAN) – are the fastest and only plug & play power sensors on the market for D band measurements that meet mass production requirements, according to the company.

FE110ST/SR TX/RX frontends

The R&S FE110ST/SR TX/RX frontends extend the frequency range of Rohde & Schwarz’s signal sources including the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator, the R&S SFI100A wideband IF vector signal generator and the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer to cover the W band (75 GHz to 110 GHz).

The R&S SFI100A combined with the R&S FSW50 signal and spectrum analyzer and R&S FE170ST/SR TX/RX frontends to upconvert and down-convert signals and the R&S NRP170TWG thermal power sensor for the D band are a complete and streamlined wideband D band communication testing solution.

The three products will be available soon. Rohde & Schwarz will showcase the new test instruments in Booth H105 at the 25th European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2023 from September 19 to 21 at Messe Berlin Hub 27 in Berlin, Germany.
