SAKOR Technologies, Inc., a recognized leader in the area of high-performance dynamometer systems, announces that it has been selected to participate in ExporTech™, a national export assistance program helping companies enter or expand in global markets. SAKOR will be focusing on expanding its exports of technology for testing hybrid and electric vehicle drivetrains, electric motor efficiency, and wind power generation systems.

ExporTech is a collaboration between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the U.S. Export Assistance Centers of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The program also includes regional partners. SAKOR is working closely with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). The program is sponsored by FedEx.

As part of the invitation-only program, SAKOR has embarked on an intensive 3-month initiative with SVSU’s College of Business and Management to revamp the company’s global marketing and export plan over the next three to five years. Working under the direction of SAKOR, which has identified key target markets, student teams are conducting market research to identify and refine opportunities.

“SAKOR’s approach to entering foreign markets focuses on understanding the unique needs of each client, with equal diligence as they show towards their traditional US-based customers,” said Laura Deierlein, ExporTech coach, who is the president of SPROUTwide LLC, an import/export firm in the greater Detroit area. “The best practices they acquire from participating in ExporTech will help them strategize on how to engineer for and service their global customers with the same passion and quality as those they serve right here in America.”

ExporTech applies a structured export strategy development process to accelerate growth for four to eight carefully selected companies. It is the only national program where each company develops a written export plan, which is then vetted by a panel of experts. The program has worked with more than 800 companies in 33 states since its inception in 2007.

“We were very gratified to be selected for this prestigious program to help us find new markets for our testing technologies,” said Randal Beattie, president of SAKOR. “We have found the SVSU team to be engaged and full of great ideas. We are looking forward to finalizing our export plan and putting it into action.”
