Sapphire optical domes resist corrosion, airborne particles

Custom fabricated sapphire domes feature a combination of optical and mechanical properties for protecting guidance systems, sensors, and other devices in harsh airborne and subsea environments. The domes are unaffected by fast moving dirt, sand, saltwater, and chemicals. They feature Moh 9 hardness and provide up to 85% transmission uncoated in the UV and IR range, and up to 99% when anti-reflective coated on two sides.

The optical domes are suited for protecting guidance systems in military and commercial applications, can withstand pressure to 10,000 psi, and temperatures. to 1000°C. They are fabricated to specification, are available in sizes up to 6-in. outside diameter and can incorporate steps and profiles for mounting purposes. The domes feature 160 degree maximum viewing angles to extend the viewing angle of missile guidance systems, they exhibit surface accuracy to <1 fringe @ 633 nm and finishes from 20 to 10 scratch-dig, per MIL-PRF-13830. The sapphire optical domes are priced from $350.00 each.
