SDHC memory cards feature 32-Gbyte capacity

The Ultra II line of Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards now features 32- and 16-Gbyte versions. The cards offer faster speeds of 15-Mbyte/s read (up from previous 10-Mbyte/s) and 9-Mbyte/s write.

The devices target high-performance digital cameras — especially those that do video and HD video recording. The 32-Gbyte capacity will allow up to 40 hours of MPEG 4 video (640 x 480, 15 fps, 1,536 kbits/s).

Both cards come with a high-speed USB 2.0 MicroMate reader for easy data transfer to a PC. (16-Gbyte, $180; 32-Gbyte, $35016-Gbyte available March, 32-Gbyte April.)
