The DS28C22 DeepCover secure authenticator IC combines crypto-strong bidirectional secure challenge-and-response authentication with small message encryption using the FIPS 180 based SHA-256 authentication algorithm. Through bidirectional authentication, the host and the peripheral authenticate one another so designers can better protect their IP.
The small 8-pin TDFN packaged device operates at 3.3 V over -40° to 85°C. Supply current is 750 µA max; 0.5 µA in sleep mode. A 3 Kbit user-programmable EEPROM provides storage for application data and additional protected memory holds a secret for SHA-256 operations. Each device has its own guaranteed unique and unalterable 64-bit ROM ID number. Pricing starts at $0.90 ea/1,000.
