If you’re wary of Samsung after the Note 7 explosions and are looking for a promising iPhone alternative, the Google Pixel is a valuable, high-end Android investment. A notable feature of the smartphone is that it seamlessly integrates with Google’s Daydream View VR headset, and the device is also the first to have the tech giant’s new robust voice-and-search service — Google Assistant — built right in.
At 143.88 mm long, 70.14 mm wide, and 8.51 mm thick, weighing 142.9 grams, the Google Pixel is fast, aesthetically pleasing, and straightforward to use. It comes equipped with a 5-inch AMOLED display, rendering 1920 x 1080 pixels. It features a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and Adreno 530 GPU, 4 GB of mobile LPDDR4 SDRAM, and 128 GB of MLC NAND flash. Additionally, it has a multitouch capacitive touchscreen made of gorilla glass 4.
Its front camera boasts 8 MP of CMOS and its rear camera 12 MP CMOS with auto focus, LED flash, and video rendering 3840 x 2160 pixels. Its sensors include a 6-axis MEMS gyroscope and accelerometer, a 3-axis electronic compass, a digital barometric pressure sensor, a fingerprint sensor, a color, ambient light and proximity sensor with IR emitter LED, a ToF sensor with gesture detection with IR emitter, and a Hall effect sensor. Equipped with a 3.85-V, 2,770-mAh Li-polymer battery, the smartphone lasts up to 26 hours on a single charge.
