ON Semiconductor’s RSL10 Sensor Development Kit provides engineering teams with a sensor design platform built around the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) radio. It features 9 degrees of freedom (DoF) detection and environmental monitoring devices, including ambient light, pressure, relative humidity, and temperature sensors.
The design kit also includes an ultra-low-noise digital microphone, a user-programmable RGB LED, three programmable pushbutton switches, and 64 Kb of EEPROM. Next, it combines motion and environmental sensing with the ultra-low-power capabilities of the RSL10 Bluetooth 5 system-on-chip (SoC) to facilitate consumer and industrial IoT designs.
The BLE is seen as a standard radio for smart sensor designs built around wireless communications. The RSL10 Bluetooth chip is available in a 5.5-mm2 WLCSP, a 6 × 6-mm QFN package, and a system-in-package (SiP) with an integrated antenna.
The RSL10 SiP also integrates a range of low-power sensors from Bosch Sensortec. The highly integrated BME680 environmental sensor, for instance, is used to detect a broad range of gases for air-quality measurements. It also includes the BMM150 geomagnetic sensor and the BHI160 smart sensor for high-accuracy motion sensing.
Developers can connect to the sensor dev kit to monitor sensors and to evaluate features through the RSL10 sense and control mobile application. The app supports several cloud platforms for uploading the sensor data.
