Server has 512 cores, petabytes of storage

The SM15000 server system is only ten rack-units (17.5 inches) tall but has either 64 of the latest AMD Operton 8-core CPU or 64 of the Intel Xeon E3-1260L or E3-1265Lv2 quad-core CPU with up to 5 petabytes of shared disk storage per system. The server targets ‘big data’ and cloud apps, and is said to use one-quarter the power, take one-sixth the space and have 16 times the bandwidth of the best-in-class alternatives.

Each processor supports up to 32 or 64 Gbytes of RAM. The server features up to 64 internal disk drives, a second-generation 1.28 Tbits/s fabric, and IOVT (Input/Output Virtualization Technology). The server also contains 16 fabric extender slots, each of which can connect to three different Freedom Fabric Storage arrays with different capacities The system is made in the USA.
