The Pilot 3 server management controller allows administrators to remotely boot physical and virtual servers from CD-ROM, DVD ROM, ISO image, floppy drive, or USB flash disk and remotely reboot a physical or virtual server following firmware or operating system updates. The ICs triple-core architecture delivers embedded platform management and provides high-performance remote keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) console operation plus high-speed remote storage support.
Also called an integrated baseboard management controller (iBMC), the chip auto-discovers system problems and increases the availability of servers because it monitors all the internal sensors and instrumentation within the server and delivers warnings of problems, whether they are firmware-related or hardware-related.
