Significant growth predicted for global socket sales
The effects of the recent economic recession has left no market unharmed, including the IC socket industry. But a recent market analysis by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. (www.StrategyR.com/) says there’s hope!
Titled “IC Sockets: A Global Market Report,” the analysis report reviews the recession’s impact on the markets and predicts not only a recovery for this year, but “substantial growth” in the near future. The analysis also examines current market trends, key growth drivers, recent product introductions, and new trends.
Though the global demand for IC and other sockets had declined over the past couple of years, the market is expected to bounce back, supported by a growing demand for ICs. As the IC industry develops and expands, a host of novel interconnect designs and solutions are expected to follow suit.
The report provides annual sales estimates and projections for IC sockets in global markets such as North America, Japan, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The market analyzed focuses on product segments including dual-in-line-memory-module sockets, production sockets, test/burn-in sockets, and other types of IC sockets. Test/burn-in sockets are predicted to be the fastest growing market in the coming years, while production sockets stood out as the largest product segment in the global market right now. However, production socket market numbers are expected to reach $850.8 million by 2012.
The report notes that the Asia-Pacific market represents the largest region for IC sockets, and with a CAGR of approximately 3.0% over the analysis period, it is also the fastest growing regional market.
