Offered in a number of versions, the SP1000 Series silicon protection arrays (SPAs) protect a variety of equipment against ESD. The SP1001-xx provides unidirectional overvoltage protection for up to five channels, while the SP1002-01 protects one channel having bidirectional (ac) signals.
Capacitance is 8 pF for the SP1001-xx and 5 pF for the SP1002-01 and response time is 1 ns. The SPAs are designed to be connected from signal/data lines to ground on the PCB-side of the input connector, so they are the first board-level component encountered by an ESD transient. Typical clamping voltage at a 2-A pulse-current rating (8 x 20-µs waveform) is 9.6 V for the SP1001-xx Series and 11.2 V for the SP1002-01. (Contact Dan Stanek for pricing — 8 to 10 weeks ARO.)
