Offering spread spectrum frequency modulation, the LTC6909 precision silicon oscillator reduces peak radiated EMI and improves control of switching regulators in multiphase power supplies. The part has eight separate outputs — providing up to eight rail-to-rail 50% duty cycle clock signals — which can be used to enable or disable and phase-synchronize multiple switching regulators.
A single resistor selects the output frequency from 12.5 kHz to 6.67 MHz. Additional features include a supply current of 600 μA typical, a supply voltage from 2.7 to 5.5 V, a start-up time of 260 μs, and a frequency spreading of ±10%. Housed in a 16-lead MSOP package, the part operates from –40° to 125°C. (From $2.46 ea/1,000 — available now.)
