Simple fixturing keeps MDA costs down

The Model TR-4-SYS200 200-point manufacturing defects analyzer (MDA)
system substantially reduces the cost of automated testing. It employs a
bed-of-nails fixture that uses mechanical pressure rather than vacuums or
pneumatics to force the unit being tested onto the spring probes. This
allows fixtures to be built less expensively and eliminates the cost of
external air or vacuum sources. The system uses guarded complex-impedance
measurement methods to detect shorts, opens, and components that are
missing, incorrect, or installed. Typical test times are 2 to 5 s.
Included with the system is a complete menu-driven software package with
self-learn capabilities, statistical process control (SPC), and network
compatibility to support cell-oriented manufacturing environments.
