Single-chip, signal controller targets IoT apps

The SM2480 is a single-chip, grid-connected signal controller that suits solar inverters, smart lighting LED ballasts, home and building automation and other SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), and grid-connected applications. The controller integrates standards-based universal narrowband power line communication (N-PLC) with analog signal monitoring, control functions and peripherals. It is the first chip to offer all of the functions required for grid-connected micro inverter implementation.

The controller features dual-core architecture with one core targeting the system control application and a second core to guarantee superior communication performance. Both cores are supported by full development systems to facilitate the implementation of proprietary application-specific control and monitoring algorithms. Micro-inverters and smart street lighting controllers help improve energy generation and usage for the smart grid. A single-chip micro-inverter provides a complete platform to implement all the functions in both the control and the communication paths. The controller features a six-output channel PWM, four comparators, dual-signal monitoring ADC, and a custom N-PLC DSP with embedded firmware.
