The 9176-65X insulation displacement connector (IDC) series provides highly reliable, gas-tight wire-to-board connector performance while reducing cost by 25%, width by 50%, and height by 10% compared to previous units. For use in SSL, smart grid, smart meter, machine control, commercial building control, industrial control, medical, and transportation applications, the 2.5-mm-wide, 5.05-mm-high connectors also have a multipurpose cap that keeps the contacts in position prior to automatic placement, and then acts as an assembly tool for terminating wires. This effectively removes costs associated with hand soldering, crimping, and two-piece connectors.
Rated for 600 Vac, 5 to 9 A, and -40°C to 125°C operating temperatures, the contacts accept 24 to18 AWG wires, are available in two configurations (stopped end cap and through wire cap), and can be potted or overmolded for waterproof performance. Tested to automotive levels of shock, vibration, and temperature cycling, the series is also RoHS-compliant and certified to both UL and CAN/CSA C22.2.
