SiTime Corp. has expanded its timing portfolio with the release of the SiT5008 temperature-compensated silicon MEMS oscillator (TCXO). The SiT5008 is a low power +/-2 ppm MEMS TCXO housed in an industry-standard 2.5 x 2.0 mm package that is pin compatible with quartz devices. Target applications include connected consumer and IoT devices such as Internet-connected audio-video, over-the-top streaming devices, industrial smart meters, and other devices that use low power wireless connectivity.
The SiT5008 is an example of SiTime’s rapid release strategy, where it develops up to 15 product derivatives from a single base platform. Each product offers customized features and solves unique timing problems, said the company.
The LVCMOS SiT5008 improves the frequency stability by 10 times by optimizing the algorithms, providing a frequency stability range of +/-2 ppm to +/-10 ppm. The MEMS TCXO offers any frequency between 10 MHz and 60 MHz accurate to six decimals and supply voltages of 1.8 V, 2.8 V and 3.3 V. It provides low-power consumption of 3.5 mA typical at 1.8 V.
