Slotted optical switch saves on space
The OPB610 and OPB620 are miniature slotted optical switches with slot
widths of 0.15 and 0.19 in., respectively. The devices are designed for
noncontact motion-sensing applications where pc-board space is limited.
The switches comprise an infrared LED and npn silicon phototransistor with
an enhanced low-current roll-off to improve contrast ratio and immunity to
background irradiance. The operating temperature is -40 degrees to 100
degreesC and the lead soldering temperature is 260 degreesC. The input
diode has a forward dc current requirement of 50 mA and a power
dissipation of 100 mW. The phototransistor has a collector dc current of
30 mA and a power dissipation of 200 mW. ($0.86 ea/1,000–2 to 4 weeks
