Small 16-bit MCUs have 64 kbytes of flash

The PIC24FJxxGA002 and PIC24FJxxGA004 microcontroller families are 28- and 44-pin-packaged 16-bit devices with 16- to 64-Kbytes of flash and 4 or 8 Kbytes of SRAM. The chips allow flexible use of all onboard peripherals by letting designers map them through a pin-mapping function.

The ICs feature two independent channels of I2 C, UART, and SPI communications along with five timers, five PWM outputs, and a 10- or 13-channel 10-bit A/D converter. They use a 2.0 to 3.6-V supply with an operating current of 650 μA/MIPS typ and a sleep current of 150 nA typ at 2.0 V. (From $1.69 ea/10,000—available now.)
