Smallest detection switch meets handheld demands

Low-profile device detects location in mobile phones, digital cameras, peripherals, and gaming machines

Measuring 3.4 (D) x 3.0 (W) x 0.9 (H) mm and weighing 0.02 g, the D3SH surface-mount detection switch is presented as the industry’s smallest. Used in presence/absence applications to detect location with an on-off signal, the low-profile switch meets the miniaturization demands of handheld devices in applications such as mobile phone cover position, digital camera lens and viewfinder position, gaming machines, and computer peripherals.

Rated to 1 mA at 5 Vdc, the SPST switch is offered in normally open and normally closed contact configurations. The switch is available in right or left operating direction, with 1.6-mm-travel standard levers or 2.1-mm-travel long levers.

The switch resists shock and vibration and features an operating temperature range of 25 to 85C in 60% humidity without icing or condensation. RoHS compliant, the switch has a minimum life expectancy of 100,000 operations. ($0.55 ea/100,000—stock to 8 weeks ARO.)
