The LM74610-Q1 smart diode controller is the industry’s first zero quiescent current solution that offers reverse polarity protection for industrial power tool and automotive applications. It provides better efficiency versus Schottky diodes and p-channel MOSFETs. The device offers a 45-V reverse voltage capability to protect against automotive transients and is AEC-Q100 qualified with 4 kV ESD protection.
The smart diode features a unique floating ground architecture that models a diode behavior with zero ground current. Paired with the CSD17313Q2Q1 NexFET n-channel MOSFET, the duo emulates a diode rectifier when connected in series with a power source, discharging the MOSFET gate in the event of reverse polarity. The diode controller can also be used to combine two alternate power sources in an ORing configuration to provide redundancy.
