There are smart phones, smart watches, smart jackets, and now, an Indiegogo campaign has finally come up with the world’s first smart ring—called Smarty Ring—that manages all of its user’s incoming smartphone alerts. The Smarty Ring is Bluetooth-enabled wearable tech that can be used to check new alerts and manage incoming calls just by tapping the ring’s interface. However, it seems that unlike its wearable tech brethren, tech enthusiasts are rather unimpressed with the Smarty Ring’s capabilities.
Smarty Ring manages smartphone alerts
Made of stainless steel, this newest edition of the wearable tech trend is compatible with both Android and iOS devices that also have Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, and has a 24-hour battery lifespan. Settings for the Smarty Ring can be managed by the user through the accompanying mobile app, and can also be used as a watch and timer. The ring will beep if its user walks more than 30 feet away from his or her phone, so it can also be used to keep track of your smartphone’s location.
While this is certainly an intriguing concept and seems like it would be fun to own, there are so many wearable tech devices with the same capabilities it seems that the Smarty Ring isn’t turning enough heads.

The Smarty Ring campaign has four days left on Indiegogo, and is nowhere near their intended goal of $40,000. While wearable tech devices — especially wearable tech devices developed on crowdsourcing sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter — are still immensely popular with both consumers and tech lovers, it seems that the public is not as impressed with the Smarty Ring as with other variations on the theme such as a GPS-enabled LED jacket or the Pebble Watch.
