Suited for consumer devices such as cell phones and cameras, the low-profile (3.7 x 3.7 x 1.0-mm) SFH7741 infrared optical proximity sensor is designed to work in battery-powered devices to enable or disable various functions based on the handheld’s proximity to the user.
The surface-mount sensor reacts at a typical working distance of 20 mm, has a digital output, and draws an average current of 50 to 75 µA max from a 2.4 to 3.6-V source.
