SoC combines audio hub plus ANC in one device

Claimed by the company to improve voice calls, the WM5100 audio SoC integrates a high-performance low-power,multichannel audio hub with full transmit path noise cancellation, receive path noise cancellation, and the company’s myZone adaptive ambient noise cancellation (ANC) technology in one device. The SoC primarily targets mobile handsets and tablets PCs. It features up to 20 dB Rx noise reduction and 102 dB SNR from DAC to headphone.

The SoC’s multicore programmable DSP enables simultaneous multiple use-cases for the audio channels. Additional specs include a power consumption from DAC to headphone playback of 4 mW and up to 32 dB noise reduction for the Tx path. With environmental noise suppression, 5.1 virtual surround sound and digital-recording enhancement, the WM5100 also enables HD Audio capture and playback. It is housed in a 155-ball CSP package.
