SOCs target printers, POS apps

The dual-core SPEAr Plus600 and single-core SPEAr Head600 system-on-chip devices feature ARM926 processor cores. The devices have 600,000 ASIC-equivalent gates of embedded configurable logic and 16-Kbit data and instruction caches running at 333 MHz.

The PBGA420-packaged chips support DDR/DDR2 333-MHz memories and a large connectivity IP portfolio including fast IrDA, a Gigabit Ethernet MAC, I2 C, SPI, and three USB 2.0 ports, and an XGA LCD controller. Also provided are a 32-Kbyte ROM, 8 Kbytes of common SRAM, a 10-bit A/D converter, dynamic powersaving features, and a high-performance eight-channel DMA. ($10 to $12 ea/20,000samples available now.)
