Software gives spurs the boot
A Windows tool, Spurious Analysis Professional '98 calculates the theoretical
location of internally and externally generated spurs for single, dual,
and triple conversions designs. Results are displayed in the form of tables
or spectral plots.
For dual-conversion designs, the software includes a search option that
determines the optimal ranges for the fixed LO frequency while holding
parameters other than the IF constant. In addition, a PLL function evaluates
the tunable LO parameters from the analysis done in the spurious frequency
sections and uses these to determine the N and A counters used in the dual-modulus
PLL IC. ($395–available now.)
