Solid-state lighting system puts all the pieces together

Solid-state lighting system puts all the pieces together

Designed to ease the transition to manufacturing LED lighting fixtures, the NEVALO SSL system brings together all the components needed to implement an SSL electrical systems in a way that’s simple, flexible, and practically foolproof. The system is the first to integrate all the electrical and electronic components necessary in a fully modular system.

Solid-state lighting system puts all the pieces together

The system initially consists of over 60 LED Light Modules (LLMs) options, ranging from 300 to 3,400 lm (including the new high-output Bridgelux RS Arrays) in form factors for popular lighting applications. In addition, the system provides optics for various reflector styles, drivers with constant-current output, dimming-control capabilities, and temperature monitoring. But the key to ease of use is a unique four-wire ribbon cabling system that is physically keyed and color coded for polarity, accurate power connections, and ease of manufacturing.

Other components included in the system are heat sinks matched to the LLMs to help provide appropriate thermal management and life expectancy, and circuit protection devices. Further, the design and budgeting tools that are part of the system can help lighting manufacturers bring their products to market faster while gaining significant cost savings.

The Web-based product configurator tool aids designers in specifying a system and producing a bill of material and drawing, and a full system and cable assembly configurator facilitates rapid system design. Other tools include a thermal test instrument to help designers instantly test a system’s thermal performance, and an SSL system budget calculator to help mix and match NEVALO drivers and LLMs. Development kits for down lights, wall sconces, and track lights are also offered.
