Solid tantalum capacitor is industry’s first 63-V part
Meets derating requirements in 28-V power supplies for military and commercial apps
Featuring a 22-µF capacitance, the Tantamount T97 is presented as the industry’s first solid tantalum chip capacitor with a 63-V rating, allowing designers to use solid SMT tantalums to meet the derating requirements in 28-V power supplies. Prior to this, designers had to rely on 50-V tantalums, which are unable to meet derating requirements (both military and best-commercial-practices) of 50% of the rated voltage.
Featuring a dual-anode construction for low ESR, the tantalum capacitor suits safety-critical applications in military and aerospace industries, including dc/dc converters and power distribution in weapons and radar systems, avionics, and space-based electronics. The conformally coated capacitors feature wraparound terminations to offer high-reliability screening options including Weibull grading, as well as surge-current testing options in accordance with MIL-PRF-55365 in five case sizes.
ESRs range from 0.015 to 0.30 Ω at 25C and 100 kHz. The parts operate in temperatures from 55 to 85°C, 125°C with voltage derating. Other products in the T97 line are available in capacitances from 15 to 1,500 µF and voltages from 4 to 63 V. (From $3.10 — 7 to 10 weeks ARO.)
