Some recent announcements of design tools for analog ICs
The first circuit simulation tool I ever used when designing an analog IC was Spice. However, even though this amazing tool existed, some of my college courses required me to design an analog IC by hand calculations first. Boy, was that time consuming…
Following are just a few recently announced tools for analog ICs I happen to come across from:
Tanner EDA
Tanner EDA has recently released a Linux version of the company’s HiPer Silicon full-flow design suite, giving designers a complete analog design flow from schematic capture, circuit simulation, and waveform probing to physical layout and verification. Merging the functionality of the Windows and Linux product lines, HiPer Silicon v15.02 includes all the functionality of the recently introduced HiPer Silicon v15 while allowing customers on either platform to choose — and change as desired— between the Windows and the Linux platforms.
New features and functionality in HiPer Silicon v15.02 include:
• A complete redesign of the waveform editor product (W-Edit), which provides designers with a signal analysis platform rather than simple layout views.
• The addition of a new database for storage and management of simulation data.
• Seamless integration with optional add-in HiPer DevGen, the newest addition to Tanner’s tool portfolio that offers breakthrough device and structure generation for layout productivity.
HiPer Silicon v15.02 and the HiPer DevGen add-on are available now for the Linux operating system. For additional information, call Tanner EDA Sales at 626-471-9700, or e-mail sales@tannereda.com.
Berkeley Design Automation, MunEDA
Berkeley Design Automation, a provider of the Analog FastSPICE unified circuit verification platform (AFS Platform), and MunEDA, provider of the circuit analysis and sizing software WiCkeD, today announced validation of the interoperability of their products to accelerate the analysis and optimization of analog, RF and mixed-signal circuits by 5x to 50x.
The AFS Platform is the industry’s only unified circuit verification platform for analog, mixed-signal, and RF design. According to the company it always delivers true SPICE accurate results, 5x to 10x higher performance than traditional Spice on a single core, greater than 10 million-element capacity, and the industry’s only comprehensive device noise analysis. For circuit characterization applications, the AFS Platform delivers up to 50x higher performance than traditional SPICE on a single multi-core computer. The AFS Platform includes licenses for AFS Nano SPICE simulation, AFS circuit simulation, AFS Co-Simulation, AFS Transient Noise Analysis, and AFS RF Analysis.
MunEDA WiCkeD is a tool suite for analysis, sizing, and modeling of circuits. It covers a wide range of topics in interactive and automatic specification-driven circuit design, including design centering, circuit sizing for performance and yield, and statistical circuit analysis. Key benefits are reduced turnaround time of porting IP between process technologies, optimized circuit performance, and a reduced risk of design failures. It is used by circuit designers for memory designs, full-custom digital designs, RF, libraries, and A/MS designs.
