Source-measure unit has the interface you’ve been waiting for

The Model 2450 SourceMeter source-measure unit (SMU) delivers a capacitive , 5-in. color touchscreen, with a graphical user interface that works with the touch commands, like swipe and pinch, that your smart phone has led you to expect. As such, it is really intuitive to operate, so even if you aren't using it on a daily basis, or don't have an experience SMU expert at hand, the knowledge you need to control it is at the tip of your fingers, so to speak.

What's more, because of the intensive software development that went into it, the $5,400 instrument can easily mimic a 6-1/2-digit DMM, current supply, electronic load, or power source, and so reduce the number of instruments you need on your benchtop. The Model 2450 also incorporates numerous ease-of-use features – including a context-sensitive help function, “Quickset” modes that speed instrument configuration, and on-screen graphing capabilities that quickly turn raw data into visibly clear results – that ensure a faster “time-to-answer” than competitive solutions.

In terms of operating performance, the SMU has extended measurement ranges of 10 and 100nA, and 20 mV, with outstanding low-current performance. These ranges eliminate the need for separate low-level instruments, while back-panel triax cable connections eliminate the need for expensive, performance-degrading cable adaptors. For test automation, an onboard Test Script Processor embeds complete test programs into non-volatile memory within the instrument, eliminating GPIB traffic with an external PC controller, and thus providing higher test throughput. Also, the SMU's TSP-Link connections support system expansion with other TSP instruments and up to 32 2450s, and a 2400-SCPI operating mode provides backward compatibility with existing SCPI programs for legacy model 2400 SMUs. Instrument interlock control, TSP-Link® jacks, GPIB, USB 2.0, and LXI/Ethernet ports, and a D‑sub 9-pin digital I/O port for internal/external trigger signals and handler control, simplify configuring multi-instrument test setups.
