This White Paper discusses the present state-of-the-art in S-Band high power amplifier (HPA) design. A 10 kW CW Solid State Power Amplifier hs been designed using solid state technology at 2GHz. The SSPA utilizes the latest GaN HEMT device technology to meet the needs of high power S-Band satcom amplifiers to replace current traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) systems.
