If you are a fan of customizable displays, or of coffee, you might want to consider becoming a part of Paulig’s new beta test. In combination with TBWA/Helsinki , a Finnish international advertising agency, Paulig—which is a Finnish coffee roasting company—has invented a new customizable coffee mug with an e-ink display, one that is powered by the heat of the beverage inside it.
The company already has 2,500 people signed up to test their new product, which is set to hit market shelves in Finland next year, but they are still looking for testers. Every time you fill Paulig’s mug, the Muki, with coffee—or tea, or any other hot liquid of your choice—the e-ink display shows a new photo, inspirational quote, or other image. You can upload these images to social media, through the same app used to control the cup and display itself.
While there are still a few bugs that need to be worked out, like which social sites you can post to and how you clean an electronic cup, the Muki is certainly generating interest. If you’d like to join its beta testing process, which starts this August, you can apply at the company’s website.
