Stepper motor drives deliver high-speed torque
The Super SD stepper motor drives use a proprietary output circuit based
on power MOSFETs instead of bipolar devices for a claimed 80% improvement
in high-speed torque. The drives run off dc voltages as high as 60 V, with
several units running together operating directly from an isolating
transformer for multiaxis applications. Each drive produces an auxiliary
24-Vdc output and is intended for use with standard two-phase hybrid or
permanent magnet stepper motors. The drives are available with 2, 3, or 5
A of output current. For matching, the current can be reduced to 70% of
maximum current via jumpers. Stepping rates reach 50 kHz. Using a standard
200-step motor, the drives have a resolution of up to 400 steps/rev.
operating in half-step mode. ($200 to $300–stock to 2 weeks.) Parker
