Stewart Connector , a Bel group company, has expanded its USB connector portfolio with the launch of its USB Type-C right-angle receptacles. The two new connectors support data speeds up to 10 Gbits/s for USB 3.1 Gen 2.
The USB Type-C receptacles come with different PCB thickness options. Both options include SMT and through-hole signal pins.
Key features include:
- Operating temperature range of −40°C to 105°C
- Hybrid pin design with both through-hole and SMT pins
- Supports USB 2.0 and USB 3.1
- Operating voltage of 20 V
- Packaged in tape and reel for pick-and-place operations
USB Type-C connectors offer plug-and-play capabilities wherein hot insertion/ejection may occur without issue under a load, said Stewart. They are rated to withstand a peak current of 1.5 A per contact. Applications for the small-form-factor connectors include consumer devices such as IoT devices, laptop computers, PCs, handheld devices, wearables, and smartphones. Other applications include data centers, business equipment, and lighting.
The USB Type-C Connectors are in stock at Digi-Key, Mouser , and Newark . A datasheet is available.
