Storage processor accelerates RAID

The high-performance PowerPC 460SX Storage Processor provides a 32-bit core and hardware-acceleration that that yields 1500 Mbytes/s RAID 5 and 1400 Mbytes/s RAID 6 full stripe write performance The IC also has optional XTSAES and GCM-AES encryption acceleration.

Targeting demanding server storage applications, the processor clocks at 833 MHz to 1.4 GHz, has a seven-stage pipeline, and can execute two instructions per cycle. The chip has an 8-lane and two 4-lane PCI Express Gen 2 interfaces. Dual internal buses support simultaneous read/write operations for a 19.2 GBytes/s peak bandwidth.
