Stunning video shows what it’s like to see Earth while aboard the International Space Station

NASA fan spends long weekend compiling photos taken by ISS, converts everything to film

Over the course of a very long weekend, space enthusiast Knate Myers spent several hours using her Sony Vegas film editing program to stitch together photographs taken from the International Space Station and archived to NASA’s online image library.

While some images had to be photoshopped to make the transition a bit smoother, everything is a first-hand view of things from the ISS. The result of her efforts is a visually stunning, 4-minute time-lapse video of what it’s like to see Earth from space.

Everything is here — from an overhead shot of the UK to an upside down look of the Great Lakes. The video also gives the viewer a close-up look at the aurora borealis as well as a unique perspective of several lightning storms.

For those curious, the music set to the video is a track from one of Myers’s favorite science fiction films, Sunshine.
