Surface-mount crystal shaped like tuning fork
The Model RSM-200 32.78-kHz surface-mount crystal is for applications
that generate, use, and display real time in seconds, minutes, hours, and
days, such as in computers, telecom systems, timers, and watches. Quartz
crystals ordinarily generate frequencies much higher than 32.78 kHz. So to
generate the standard 32.78 kHz for convenient divide-by-60 count-downs
for these applications, the crystal is shaped into a tiny tuning fork.
This results in a crystal with an accuracy of (+/-)30 ppm at 25 degreesC.
Equivalent series resistance is 35 K Ω, load capacitance 12.5 pF,
shunt capacitance 2.0 pF max, and drive level 10 μ W–all maximum
values. The operating temperature range is from -10 degrees to +60
degreesC. The RSM-200's pinout is on 5.6-mm centers, and its height above
board is only 3.3 mm. Its footprint board is only 9.1 x 4.0 mm. ($0.55
