The HGLN-CL1-XX line of 12-, 15-, and 24-V 4 to 20-mA current-loop lightning and surge protectors help minimize risks to sensors and process controllers by lightning strikes or power surges. They suit indoor, outdoor, and industrial applications. Most devices provide three-stage protection using screw terminals.
The three-stage surge protectors provide protection for differential or common-mode lines from transients and surges. The first stage is composed of a differential gas discharge tube. Stage two is a pair of current-limiting series resistors, and the final stage is a low-capacitance diode array. The gas discharge tubes provide common- and differential-mode protection against conducted transients. The second-stage series resistance limits the power dissipation of the fast-diode clamp array in the third stage. The diode array clamps the leading edge of fast transients to safe levels until the high-power gas tubes turn on. ($43.60 each — available now.)
