TE Connectivity (TE) has released new Tinel ring swept elbow backshells (TXR) for screened cables, complementing its series of banding backshells, for a range of military and aerospace applications. The TXR swept elbow backshells offer designers up to 20% weight savings over traditional backshells.
The TXR swept elbow backshells provide constant internal radius and a smooth internal bore using investment casting, said TE. They are designed to allow for uncoupling during repairs, which helps reduce damage to the boot, delivering a fast termination option. It features a spin coupling nut for improved reliability.
The backshells offer overall 360° screening against EMI/RFI in high vibration applications with large wire bundles. A 90-degree cable termination option is available for military and aerospace applications. In addition, with a heat shrink boot, backshells can provide strain relief and cable support to help prevent bending or overflexing, said the company.
The backshells can be used with a range of circular connectors and they are available in multiple shell sizes and plating configurations. These include MIL-DTL-38999 series III and IV and MIL-DTL-26482 series II. The TXR40 series also meets AS85049 category 3B sealing requirements.
